Question
Why does Outlook keep prompting me to log in over and over again when I try to check my email?
Answer (posted 10/22/2003)
You're not using a valid username and password! Your username is just the first part of your email address (everything before the "@"). If your username is correct, you're not entering the correct password. You can check your username and password by logging in to web mail from the home page of this site. If you don't have the correct password, please call to have your password reset.
Question
Can I use the Tsongas.net email server to send email from Outlook or another program on my computer?
Answer (posted 12/21/2003)
You should use your ISP's email server as your outgoing mail (SMTP) server. If that is not possible, you can use the Tsongas.net email server by enabling SMTP authentication in your email program. To configure this in Outlook, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts
2. In the Internet Accounts popup window, click on the name of the account you want to configure, then click the Properties button on the right.
3. In the account properties popup window, click on the Servers tab.
4. Under Server Information, set the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server to mail.tsongas.net.
5. Under Outgoing Mail Server, check the box next to My server requires authentication. You should not have to click the Settings... button.
6. Click the Close button in the bottom right corner of the Internet Accounts popup window.
Question
Someone is trying to send me email, but it is being rejected by Spamcop or another blacklist. How can I receive email from that person?
Answer (posted 01/04/2004)
Tsongas.net uses email blacklists to dramatically reduce the amount of spam received by customers. If someone's ISP allows spam to be sent by or through their system, that person's email will be rejected by the Tsongas.net mail server. They should find a more responsible ISP, since the blacklists used by Tsongas.net are used by thousands of other providers. Meanwhile, you will need to use another email account not hosted by Tsongas.net if you wish to receive email from that person.

Question
Can I import my Outlook contacts into web mail?
Answer (posted 12/14/2005)
Yes, in Outlook go to File > Import and Export, then choose "Export to a file" and click "Next." Choose "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and then save the file on your computer.
Log in to web mail and click on the "Address Book" button, then the "Import contacts" link. Click the "Browse" button to browse to the file you saved on your computer, the click "Import."
Select the columns of information you want to import. Tsongas.net recommends you pick "First name" for "First Name," "Surname" for "Last Name," "Email 1" for "E-mail Address," "Contact Name" for "E-mail Display Name," plus any other columns you'd like to import. Click the "Import to Addressbook" button to finish importing your contacts.
